Jarrah Moulding

Jarrah Moulding

Jarrah Moulding

Jarrah is a large hardwood timber, native to the south west of WA.

Jarrah is renowned for its versatility – it’s natural properties include a high resistance to weather, rot, termites and even marine borers. Its durability and strength make it an ideal timber for a range of structural and design applications.

The heartwood varies in colour from rich reds to browns and deepens over time, while sapwood ranges from a pale yellow to pink- orange. The texture of the timber is moderately coarse and even-textured grain, although some interlocked, wavy grain may feature, creating interesting fiddle-back figure. This makes it an appealing architectural design material.

In the past Jarrah has been used in construction applications such as wharf and bridge construction, railway sleepers, cross arms, poles, piles and timber framing for residential construction. Today, Jarrah is value added and used for its decorative qualities making it a prized timber for veneering, furniture manufacturing, timber floors, timber decking, timber mouldings, doors, door frames and window joinery.
